Tanya Gould, B.A.
Honorable Tanya Gould is an activist fighting human trafficking, striving to impact legislative policy and raise public awareness.
She is currently the Anti-Human Trafficking Director for the Virginia Commonwealth Attorney General's Office.
Tanya held two terms on the U.S. Advisory Council on Human trafficking which is the council that advises the President and provides recommendations to the President's Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force.
This past January, Anthony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State, awarded Tanya the 2021 Presidential Award for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons, for her fierce commitment to raising national awareness of this covert form of human exploitation. Tanya is the 1st Survivor Advocate to receive this award.
Tanya has served as a consultant to various anti human trafficking organizations, including the Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime, Department of Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign, and the U.S. State Department's Trafficking in Persons office.
Tanya serves as a mentor, consultant, advisor, trainer, and keynote speaker for a multitude of stakeholders across the United States. She has been featured in over 20 interviews, both in television and print.
She serves on boards and organizations such as The Polaris Project, Beloved Haven, and Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum Taskforce on Human Trafficking.
Tanya Gould shares her story of being trafficked as part of her advocacy and gives credit to Survivors, family and friends of her community who have helped her achieve her goals. Years after being forced to drop out of college by her trafficker, she went back to college and earned her B.A.Sc. in Communications in 2015.
Tanya loves being a part of her expanding family of three adult children, their loves, and four grandbabies.
