Simulation Based Medical Education Workshop for Advanced Clerkship Students enrolled in the Human Trafficking Elective at the VCU School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia.

There is very little curricular time in medical schools dedicated to teaching students on how to interact and communicate with patients in trauma-informed ways. This workshop aims to bridge this educational gap by providing students with a safe environment to practice how to obtain patient information using trauma-informed communication skills that empower versus re-victimize patients with histories of abuse, violence and exploitation, including human trafficking.
