Megan Duggins, M2
Megan is from Charlottesville, Virginia and received her degree in Biomedical Sciences from Liberty University. She is currently a M2 at Eastern Virginia Medical School. She’s always been very passionate about serving vulnerable populations and had the opportunity to volunteer with a HT program in New Orleans this past summer. This experience gave her a desire to become more involved in raising awareness and helping create curriculum tailored to healthcare providers on human trafficking.
As of August of 2021, she started a non-profit, called From Red Flags to Freedom, with the goal of creating online educational courses that are easily accessible to healthcare students, to better prepare in responding to patients who are being trafficked. In addition, she is working to create a Blue Heart HT clinic through EVMS, which will be student run and will provide medical care based on the current needs of the safe havens/houses in Hampton Roads. Another current project is creating a HT elective at EVMS that will partner with From Red Flags to Freedom to continue to educate M3 and M4 students. Megan is actively involved in ultrasound research, several school clubs, and volunteers to provide medical care to the homeless in Hampton Roads.
