Libbie Roberts
Libbie Roberts is a person in long term recovery from SUD/OUD. She lived her life in active addiction for over twenty years. At age eleven, her family physician prescribed her narcotic pain relievers to deal with repeat sports injuries. Before she was a teenager she was addicted to narcotics. This addiction grew over the course of time and expanded to include crack cocaine, benzodiazepines, alcohol and heroin. She was a victim of physical, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse throughout the course of her life. Libbie began her journey into recovery on April 15th, 2018. She has spent the last 3 years working as a crisis response Certified Peer Recovery Specialist alongside providers from Richmond Ambulance Authority and various police agencies that are partnered with her employer, Project Recover. Libbie has also advocated fiercely for the now open and operational Chesterfield Recovery High School. She is an outspoken advocate for all pathways to recovery. Libbie currently sits on the board of directors for the Where You’re At Foundation which is a harm reduction non-profit based in Richmond, VA; and, 2 End the Stigma which is an educational/advocacy non-profit based in Chesterfield,VA.
