Cheryl Bodamer, PhD, RN, MPH, CHSE
After a long and productive career at VCU, Dr. Bodamer retired in March 2022 but will continue as a Consultant for ImPACT Virginia to guide research and program development in Human Trafficking education and training.
Cheryl completed the Advanced Instructor Course at the Institute of Medical Simulation at Harvard and was key in coordinating programs for the VCU SOM Center for Human Simulation and Patient Safety. With her expertise in simulation and debriefing, Cheryl assisted faculty with the development and teaching of their courses in simulation based research. Her particular interests included faculty development, patient safety and interdisciplinary team training.
Cheryl received her PhD in Public Policy and Administration from VCU with a concentration in Health Policy, an MPH from the VCU School of Medicine and a BSN from the VCU School of Nursing. She worked in the VCU Department of OB/GYN for 20 years as the Coordinator of the Regional Perinatal Council Outreach Education Program and also as principal investigator for the Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program. Her clinical nursing experience includes both Neonatal and Pediatric ICU; she is an Instructor trainer for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
