ANGIE HARBOUR, M3
Angie is a third-year medical student at Florida State University College of Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from FSU in psychology during which her passions for research, medicine, and advocacy flourished. As a dedicated volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Angie saw the need for mentorship and advocacy for the adolescent population. After working with human trafficking survivor-victims, Angie discovered the interconnection between medicine and human trafficking advocacy. She joined AMWA-PATH (Physicians Against the Trafficking of Humans) in the spring of 2019 and soon thereafter became the vice president of the student interest group, led multiple nationwide philanthropic events as fundraising chair, and served on the research committee. Through AMWA-PATH Angie has led/ organized multiple human trafficking training/ education sessions for healthcare providers in her community. As part of her interest in research and mental health among healthcare providers, she is currently studying the intersections of healthcare provider emotional resilience while caring for human trafficking patients during COVID-19. Angie is planning to pursue a career in internal medicine, which will give her a wide range of medical knowledge and the opportunity to be the grounded physician and patient advocate she strives to be.
